Club Atom

Alright had a chance to recuiperate....mostly!   Valentines Day spent at Club Atom as I said was fabulous...aside for the walk to and from the station.  It had been a pretty nice day, but started snow....slushing around 4 in the afternoon, and so by the time we all left for the club at around 11pm quite a lot of the cold extremely wet stuff had collected on the ground to start the attack on my poor defenseless toes.  After the 5 minutes from the Hostel to the station I was wishing my dress would allow me to tuck them under my feet....by the time we made the 10 minute walk to the club my feet officially needed to be defrosted.  I did my best by immidiately getting on the dance floor and partying it up in to hope that the movement would warm them up quicker.

Within just a couple minutes bunk blog buddy and I had already attracted some attention.  Now my Japanese isn't the best, but unfortunately for the poor guys they were from Osaka....meaning they speak nearly a different language....from the different one I already hardly speak! I managed to convince them I wasn't interested after a bit of manuvering.  Blog buddy, the 3 tour group friends and I left to check out the other floors.  Music was great and really varied.  I had so much fun all night rotating between the 3 floors listening to all the different music.  The bottom two floors varied with the DJs between techno and popular dance songs from the US.  Top floor was all Jpop....which was great for me, but none of my friends are really into that so we didn't really spend as much time up there.  After about an hour my feet were completely back to normal...unfortunately I hadn't had dinner and with the constant motion I'm afraid I chugged the water just a little too fast.  I wont go into more details, but lets just say it wasn't pretty.

Pretty quickly after we returned from the above floors I got approached to dance by a good looking Japanese man...who (BONUS!!) was quite a bit taller than I was, even in heels.  It was fantastic.  His name is Kagiyama, and he was really sweet.  I was so mad that I chose that morning to walk around in my heeled boots.  My feet haven't been in heels in a while and with the mornings abuse my feet didn't have nearly the stamina I would have liked. I kept having to sit down for like 10 or 20mins and let them rest before I could head back out.  But other than my feet, the night couldn't have been more fun or perfect!

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures at Atom.  I thought my cell phone would be a good enough camera, but either it doesn't have flash or I'm a huge idiot and couldn't get it to work.  Sigh, hopefully the other's got some pictures.  I know Kagiyama got some of the 2 of us, but due to my lack of a Japanese phone he couldn't send them to me.  I got his number, so maybe after I get one I'll give him a call and have him send them to me.

Walking back to the station from the club was more miserable as the walk to the club.  Kagiyama walked with us, showing us the way.  We had gotten turned around so weren't exactly sure how to get back.  So having a guide worked out perfectly.  And I loved that extra time to chat....where I could easily actually hear his responses. We had to transfer from the metro to the JR line in order to get back to Asakasabashi. That train didn't arrive for 15minutes and the platform was completely outside and exposed to the cold.  I had to wrap a scarf around my legs in order to not freeze...but again...my poor toes.  Just outside the station was a 7/11...I took shelter there till I had some feeling in them to make the remaining 5minutes of walking back to the hostel.  Bed hasn't felt that nice in a long time!!

Journey to Taiwan...still to be continued!
